Cold Cold Bones is also perfect for anyone with a short attention span。 It has short chapters with short paragraphs and sentences。 The prose is non-pretentious and is not overly flowery。 The characteristic that I prize about all else is storytelling, and Cold Cold Bones held my attention。 I would gladly pay to read #22 in the Temperance Brennan series。Overall, Cold Cold Bones is a highly entertaining book for those with strong stomachs who love murder mystery。 Perfect for fans of Bones, Rizzoli & Isles, Temperance Brennan, or those looking for strong female characters doing important work。*Thanks, Scribner, for a free copy of this book in exchange for my fair and honest review。2022 Reading ScheduleJan Animal FarmFeb Lord of the FliesMar The Da Vinci CodeApr Of Mice and MenMay Memoirs of a GeishaJun Little WomenJul The Lovely BonesAug Charlotte's WebSep Life of PiOct DraculaNov Gone with the WindDec The Secret GardenConnect With Me!Blog Twitter BookTube Facebook 。。。more

another great mystery this time involving copy cat cases of Brennan’sMany copy cat murders start happening with tons of loose ends and Ryan off on a job and Katy newly moved to Charlotte with probably PTSD。 A very good who-done-it of suspects and detective work with Skinny and Ryan at the helm。 Could not put this one down!!

The location of this book in the series takes us to North Carolina。 Not my favourite location of the series (I prefer when Tempe works on cases in Canada - not sure why), but the cold weather at the time in North Carolina really adds to the creepiness with the imagery。 I found this case to be very interesting, and very intense。 Someone from Tempe’s past seems to be seeking revenge, and is doing so by recreating old murders from her past。 As the case continues, it becomes more and more personal f The location of this book in the series takes us to North Carolina。 Not my favourite location of the series (I prefer when Tempe works on cases in Canada - not sure why), but the cold weather at the time in North Carolina really adds to the creepiness with the imagery。 I found this case to be very interesting, and very intense。 Someone from Tempe’s past seems to be seeking revenge, and is doing so by recreating old murders from her past。 As the case continues, it becomes more and more personal for Tempe, which really adds to the suspense of the book。If this wasn’t stressful enough on Tempe, her daughter has returned from her second tour in Afghanistan, and is struggling with the return。 Tempe is concerned for her daughter, and just wants to see her okay。 I loved that this book brought back some familiar characters, and highlighted some of Tempes old cases。 It’s always exciting when a book series mentions familiar aspects for its long-time readers。 Overall, I loved this addition to the ‘Bones’ series。 It had mystery, suspense and even that classic Tempe Brennan sass。 I would recommend this book to anyone who loves both the book and show series Bones, but also to anyone who enjoys a good suspense mystery read。 。。。more

I've watched and enjoyed some episodes of the tv series Bones but never read the books。 Judging from reviews of her other books, I knew going in that the Tempe in the books wasn't like the tv show。 Starting with book 21 in the series was challenging, especially when each new victim (or body part) brought back past cases I didn't know about。 But the book was still really good。 I loved the forensics part of it and the puzzle of solving the case。 I would recommend reading the series in order though I've watched and enjoyed some episodes of the tv series Bones but never read the books。 Judging from reviews of her other books, I knew going in that the Tempe in the books wasn't like the tv show。 Starting with book 21 in the series was challenging, especially when each new victim (or body part) brought back past cases I didn't know about。 But the book was still really good。 I loved the forensics part of it and the puzzle of solving the case。 I would recommend reading the series in order though and I plan to read them from the beginning。 I received an advance reader copy of this book。 The views and opinions expressed in this review are completely my own and given voluntarily。 。。。more

Cold, Cold Bones is book #21 in the Temperance Brennan Novel series by Kathy Reichs。Temperance Brennan has a lot going on with her daughter moving nearby, a disgruntled neighbor, and an eyeball showing up on her doorstep。I enjoyed reading about a setting I’m familiar with。 I thought the story started a little slow, but it picked up speed quickly and I couldn’t put it down。 As Tempe and Skinny started putting the pieces together, I was drawn in。 I did guess the guilty party before they put it tog Cold, Cold Bones is book #21 in the Temperance Brennan Novel series by Kathy Reichs。Temperance Brennan has a lot going on with her daughter moving nearby, a disgruntled neighbor, and an eyeball showing up on her doorstep。I enjoyed reading about a setting I’m familiar with。 I thought the story started a little slow, but it picked up speed quickly and I couldn’t put it down。 As Tempe and Skinny started putting the pieces together, I was drawn in。 I did guess the guilty party before they put it together, but I still didn’t expect the ending。 Thank you to the author, Scribner, and NetGalley for the Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) copy of this book and I am voluntarily leaving an honest review。 。。。more

Author Kathy Reichs is back with another in her Temperance Brennan series, COLD, COLD BONES, this time located in North Carolina。 While these are almost formulaic, they are predictably enjoyable, whether you’ve joined the series recently or started at the beginning。 Even if you are ‘only’ a fan of the TV series, the books offer enough of an added benefit that they are a joy to read。 And right now, that is saying a lot! I received my copy from the publisher。

Well, Tempe finding an eyeball on her doorstep is a good way to get my attention。 When you add in the connections to many of Tempe's previous cases as a forensic anthropologist, bits of humour and her complicated personal life, this was a compelling and enjoyable read。 The tension was good, and I felt intrigued and invested in Tempe's struggle to find the links between several gruesome crimes and her hunt for the identity of the person who has a grudge against her。 This avid suspense reader guessed the culprit midway, but I enjoyed the journey, particularly due to its short chapters (always a fan!), fast pace and Reich's delightful teasers at the end of many chapters which kept me reading 'just a bit more'。 If you're looking for a series that is police procedural, medical mystery with some action thrown in for good measure, then I'd recommend this series。 I think you can easily read this book as a standalone, but long-time fans may get a bit more out of it。 I enjoyed Tempe and the secondary characters so much that I plan to read the backlist of this popular series which is also the inspiration for the long-running TV show Bones。 Disclaimer: My sincere thanks to Simon and Schuster Canada for my complimentary copy of this book which was given in exchange for my honest review。 。。。more

I just wish that Ryan had a bigger part in this story…his occasional phone calls really weren’t enough for me。 Hopefully next book he has a bigger role。The story moves quite quickly, aided by the fact that most chapters end with mini-cliffhangers, which begs you to keep reading。 I will say that while I did end up figuring out who was behind everything, I had no idea of their motivations or how things were going to end。 And this in no way detracted from my enjoyment of the book – I loved how this all played out and found myself glued to the book from start to finish。 I am always in awe of how Kathy Reichs is able to come up with such unique, engaging stories。 And I love that there is just enough forensics that I feel I learn a little about the field without being overwhelmed。I’m a big fan of this series and love any chance I get to be in Tempe’s world。 This latest installment is twisty and completely gripping, and while it can be read as a stand-alone, I highly recommend reading the series from the beginning…it’s totally worth it!Audio thoughts: I love listening to this series on audio, especially with Linda Emonds as the narrator。 She has narrated previous books in this series and does such a great job bringing Tempe to life。 She really is very consistent with the voices, which to me, is important – it’s doesn’t matter how long it’s been since I’ve last listened to a book in this series, as soon as I start listening, I’m right back in the zone! That’s how good and unique her characterization is of the characters she does。You can see all my reviews at: https://www。alwayswithabook。com/ 。。。more

Yes。 Will I re-read or recommend this one to someone who has not read much of the series? Temperance Brennan returns for her 21st novel from Kathy Reichs。 The story is told from Tempe’s POV and includes her internal thoughts, wit and sarcasm。 The major story revolves around the finding of bodies, some dead for a few years。 While seemingly very separate and unrelated Tempe begins to see similarities to previous cases that she has worked。 It all begins with an eye ball delivered to her house with GPS coordinates leading to more of the body。 Tempe is of course helpful with autopsies and Temperance Brennan returns for her 21st novel from Kathy Reichs。 The story is told from Tempe’s POV and includes her internal thoughts, wit and sarcasm。 The major story revolves around the finding of bodies, some dead for a few years。 While seemingly very separate and unrelated Tempe begins to see similarities to previous cases that she has worked。 It all begins with an eye ball delivered to her house with GPS coordinates leading to more of the body。 Tempe is of course helpful with autopsies and medical details。 Why a presumed suicide is actually staged etc。 Tempe does work with the new detective assigned to her case but of course she investigates on her own as well。 A side story that I enjoyed is Tempe helping her daughter Katy settle into a new place。 She is out of a double enlistment in the Marines and is now trying to decide what she wants to do with her life。 Katy also seems to suffer from PTSD。I really enjoyed this book。 It starts a little slowly but once it gets moving I couldn’t put it down。 Tempe’s live-in Ryan does appear but is away on his own investigation during much of the book。 I really appreciate Reich’s humor。 Tempe and Katy’s banter is very fun and feels like the communication a mother and daughter share。 Thank you to NetGalley and Scribner for an eARC in exchange for an honest review。 。。。more

See, how great does that sound? This book is so cinematic and tension filled, you absolutely cannot stop reading until the conclusion。 I did figure out the killer, but it didn't detract from my enjoyment of this thrilling, chilling story。 Kathy Reichs is still at the top of her game, and Cold, Cold Bones is her best book in years! 4。5 stars。 Thank you to Netgalley and Scribner for the chance to review this advance copy。 。。。more
